Cally is fostered in Kings Lynn, she is a five-year-old medium-sized Terrier who looks a little like an over-sized border terrier. Cally was one of over 200 dogs that our rescuer friend in Romania saved from the Mizil shelter when they were all due to be killed. Two years on and we are now taking the last of those dogs into our care, and it is now Cally’s turn to look for a sofa of her own. Cally has a lot to learn about life outside a shelter. However, far from being anxious, she is actually a confident dog and learns very quickly. Once she knows what she is expected to do in a new situation then she relaxes.
However, it is taking her a while to get over her deep fear of human hands, meaning that she avoids touch if at all possible. She is still too afraid to take treats from a human hand, but is getting braver by the day. With the other dogs in her foster home, she is playful and bold, and loves being at the heart of the pack as well as being sociable with dogs that she meets on walks. She is very relaxed in the house now, and will roll about on the sofa or sleep in her bed comfortably. She is happy being left for short periods whilst her foster family are at work. She is an active dog and loves nothing more than a long walk, sniffing around and walking confidently and politely on the lead with her tail in the air, thoroughly enjoying her freedom. She is currently living happily with cats, several other dogs, hens and teenagers. She especially likes the teenagers and lets them stroke her once everyone is settled down. She has been completely clean in the house since she arrived.
Cally probably does need another dog in the household to learn from and gain confidence from. Our adoption fee is £250. The dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless they are too young).
