Cash’s much smaller than the breed standard. He weighs 8kg and measures 53cm to the top of his head. Cash is very human-oriented and has made it his mission to befriend every volunteer at the shelter.
Cash can be a bit selective with other dogs and upon observation, we think he is generally better with females. He’s made good friends with Cola, who’s a similar age and size, and they play well together.
Cash can be a bit pickier with males though, especially bigger dogs and those that are still intact.
Cash tends to react vocally more than anything else. Humans on the other hand are the best thing in the world as far as Cash is concerned and he is bursting with love to give.
Cash has learnt to walk well on the lead and loves being fussed over. He is a sucker for an ear scratch and would love a home where he can be the centre of attention.
Once bonded with a new family we think he would be the ideal dog to accompany them on all their ventures, whether that’s long walks, sitting in the pub, or playing on the beach.
These integrations need to be done gradually so as not to overwhelm him, but he has great potential as a companion in the right home. Cash would be best suited to a home outside of the city and would benefit from direct access to a garden.
Although his behaviour with other male dogs isn’t causing problems in the pound it is worth noting that it may translate as lead reactivity/frustration in a new environment and his adopters should be mindful that his training and socialisation must be continued to help him grow into a balanced adult dog.
We don’t know his history and he could easily have had an altercation with another dog that’s made him a bit wary.
Cash hasn’t been around children before but we feel he would be fine with kids aged 8+. He could live alongside a female dog but is also confident enough to be the only dog in the household.
Cash has had some introductory exposure to cats and was intrigued by them, so we’re not convinced he would be the best in a home with resident felines.
Cash would be perfect for someone looking for a dog to make their number one, and who has time to devote to Cash to help him settle in, learn new things, and feel secure. He is a fabulous character and will blossom given the opportunity.
Cash is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready to travel once he has a forever home to go to.
