Hi everyone, my name is Casper and I am a year old American Bulldog Cross. I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. I am a rough diamond but a diamond all the same! I am looking for an experienced home, without any children or other animals in the home.

I have spent most of my life in kennels before coming to SEDR. I am somewhat ‘wonky’ on my back end and xrays and investigation at SEDR vets have shown I have mild hip dysplasia and spondylosis of the spine which is now managed with anti inflammatory which is likely to be lifelong medication and pain relief when needed.

Unfortunately my medical issues have gone undiagnosed for some time, and my coping skills have been to plough through the pain by being 100 miles an hour. When I arrived I would jump up and drag whoever was on the end of the lead around like a rag doll!! With patience, training and easing of pain with meds, I now walk nicely on the lead once the intial excitement of going out passes.

My biggest mountain to climb in terms of modifying my behaviour is to learn not to grab and hold people’s clothing!! This is no longer an issue with those I know who consistently teach me this is not the way to make friends.. But my new owners must be prepared to and be able to continue this training.

There is zero aggression behind this behaviour but I am a big strong boy, and if you have not dealt with this before, it can be a daunting! Unfortunately I have not been well socialised with other dogs and once settled in a home will need work on how to interact with other dogs.

I am completely clean in my kennels so its more than likely that I am house trained, and I show no signs of seperation anxiety. I have no guarding issues around toys or food. I am a very clever boy (and modest too ) and an absolute pleasure to train, and once my ‘grabbing clothes’ issue and socialisation with other dogs has been ironed out, I think I will be a pretty much perfect companion. Did I mention I am ridiculously handsome?

Brain games and calming exercises help me immensely and my friends at SEDR are of course on hand to help my transition into a new home as seamless as possible. I am a good boy at the vets, I travel well in the car and love cuddles!

If you have the experience, the time and the dedication to take a diamond in the rough, a shiny piece of coal, and help me reach my goal. Then you will be rewarded with a lifetime of my love!
