Champion is a 1-2 year old, medium size (24 kg) neutered male Cross-Breed, who has been through a lot in his short life. He was found at the side of the road with an injured leg in rural Hungary. He had been lying there for a few days by the time he was reported to the local rescue organisation. He was so scared and distressed that his rescuers had to use a dog trap to be able to capture him. His leg’s now healed completely and he’s been vaccinated and neutered, ready for his forever home!
He’s lived in the streets as a stray since he was a puppy. Due to his troubled past, he can easily get scared of sudden movements and gestures and he will need to grow in confidence in his new home. He is a bit aloof with strangers and would start barking at the intruder if he is caught in surprise. For this reason, we would like to rehome him with a family who has experience with rescue dogs. Having said that, he is very greatful for the care he is getting and he is a real sweetheart with his humans once you’ve gained his trust.
Champion is friendly and sociable with dogs and gets along well with all dogs brilliantly, has never shown any aggression. He is medium energy level, playful and likes his ball! He is very good with cats too so he could potentially be rehomed in a household with cats. He is not getting walks currently and he will need some lead training put in place. He will also need to be house trained as he currently lives outside and gets inside the house only occasionally.
Champion would be best suited for a family without children where he is not left alone for long periods of time and there’s time for his training. His family will need to be patient and give him time to settle. He needs a home where he is treated as a member of the family so he can grow in confidence and learn to trust in humans. He could easily live with a friendly doggie mate as he is quite sociable, but he would equally be happy living with his humans to care for him only. We want to find him a loving home where he can feel safe and well looked after for the rest of his life as he’s had enough of turmoil already…
