Chico – 6-7 year old male Akita

Chico is 6-7 year old male Akita. He came to us an unclaimed stray from the pound, he wasn’t microchipped so we don’t know his actual date of birth. Chico is an independent kind of character, he doesn’t mind attention but with the typical Akita aloofness he prefers it to be on his own terms.

With this in mind and given we have no previous history on him, although he is in a foster home with children he would be better suited to an adult only home or a home with teenage children.

Chico is a ladies man and who can blame him being that handsome! He warms up to men after a while but initially prefers the company of his female companions. He would prefer to be the only pet in his new home as he does like all the attention to himself.

Chico has been crate trained and he is happy to be left alone for a few hours at a time. He walks beautifully on his lead, a head collar is used currently to aid his training as he can occasionally react to unknown dogs, this is improving. He has the lovely Akita trait of being quite talkative, he likes to vocalise, especially when he is enjoying something.

A specific diet is needed for Chico, this has been recommended by his vet and he is doing extremely well on it. His new family would need to be aware and commit to continuing this diet. It is also used in his training and he cannot have treats of any kind. We can discuss this further with interested adopters.

If you are interested in offering this fabulous boy his new forever home, please contact us for more information and an application form. He will be fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped before leaving for his new home. He is currently in a foster home in Derbyshire.
