Clara is a 3 year old female Spanish Mastin Cross. Our beautiful girl Clara, a big girl with a smooth tan and white short coat. She is 3 years old and just wants a loving home, sadly something she has never had. This poor girl spent most of her life on a short chain, so now she is free she is full of excitement and has a high fun energy level.
What she needs is stability, routine and someone who will give her the training she requires, she needs to know the boundaries, at present all she wants to do is play. She is a friendly and very loving girl with all humans.
In Spain, she got on with all dogs male and female and she was allowed to roam and have freedom without the restriction of a lead and harness and halti, now she is in the UK we have seen some new antics never presented in Spain.
Clara is now in foster with a cat and another small dog, whom she loves as you will see by the photos. She has now filled out and is loving living in a family situation and she is golden at home. The lead walking is the new thing we are working with now as she walks well until she sees a dog she doesn’t like and will lunge at it.
Clara isn’t a nasty dog, but she now sometimes reacts to other dogs on leads and this can take the foster mum by surprise, and Clara is strong enough to pull over a slight person.
We recommend she wears a harness and halti when out walking, she does enjoy her walks but, again more training would certainly benefit her as she is full of excitement to be out walking. She needs more practice at travelling in the car.
As Clara has such high energy we would recommend she isn’t homed with young children. So what we are looking for would be – a strong experienced owner maybe no other dogs (to help focusing all effort when walking), no children under 12 years, a large garden so she doesn’t have to go out walking so often, a rural area to minimize the amount of dogs she meets.
Her best points are lovely happy and loving, playful girl, lots of energy, and okay with cats.
