Cola is a 5 month old female Shepherd Cross. She was brought into the pound by the dog warden after she was found wandering alone.
Cola had no collar or microchip, and we couldn’t locate anyone who might have been missing her. Sadly she is now waiting in the pound for a forever home.
Cola is a lovely, lovely dog. Her black colouring is a worry, as she is now one of the so many other black dogs we have waiting for homes, and they’re overlooked far more than dogs of any other colour.
On top of that, the longer they’re in the shelter and the older they get, the slimmer their chances of adoption. No one knows why this happens to black dogs, but everyone in rescue wishes that it didn’t.
Cola is a young, fun-loving girl with a fabulous personality. She is very confident but not in an overbearing way, and she will approach any of the bigger dogs in the shelter to make friends and see if they want to play with her. She is a bundle of fun and so friendly.
It’s almost as though she looks out for the other dogs and wants to make sure that no one is feeling left out. She’s cheeky, and very cute so it’s lovely to watch.
Cola loves going out for her walks with the volunteers and is mastering lead training. She’s very intelligent and loves learning new things.
Cola is constantly looking to whoever is walking her for direction and she would do great with some basic training in her future forever home – we know she would pick things up super quickly.
We haven’t seen any issues with Cola and other dogs and she would be happy living alongside a resident dog. She would enjoy having another dog to play with, but it isn’t compulsory.
Cola’s a confident dog and can live on her own, but would benefit from continued socialisation with other dogs regularly considering her playfulness.
Cola has had some basic exposure to cats in the yard and barked excitedly at them, but hasn’t shown any desire to chase them.
That said we still think she would fare better in a home with dog-savvy cats only, and adopters who are confident with dog/cat integrations.
Cola hasn’t had any experience with children but she is such a balanced dog that we think she would be absolutely fine with children aged 5+.
Cola wants to be friends with everyone, two legs or four. We would expect that anyone adopting a puppy would embark on a training journey with them and in Cola’s case we really would encourage that as she will love the opportunity to learn and it will massively strengthen the bond between the dog and adopter.
Her ideal home would be based slightly outside of the city, and preferably with direct access to a garden where she can let off some steam.
Cola can be rehomed with or without other dogs and would make a lovely addition to a family. Cola is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
