Cracker is a one year old male Akita. He was with his last family only 6 weeks before they gave him to us. Previous to that he was kept crated much of the time and we believed he’s been passed from one home to another already in his short life.
He needs a sensible, calm home with experience of the breed with teenage children or adult only. He’s a no to cats. He is waggy tailed meeting new people and he gives great kisses so with the right people he’s going to be a diamond of a dog. He can be strong in his lead but it’s not unmanageable and he walks well on a halti. He’s very interested in the world on his walks which we’d expect if he’s not been walked much previously.
He is great with other dogs he meets so pending a successful meet he could possibly live with a friendly female. He’s not yet neutered but this will be done as soon as we can get him into a foster or forever home. He travels well, is fine to be left and is a low maintenance dog at home- happy to come for a fuss but then chill on his bed. Foster homes need to be within an hour of Rotherham to attend our vets and for meets.
Forever homes can be anywhere within the UK but you will need to travel to us in South Yorkshire. As always we require everyone in the family and any children who are regularly going to be in contact with the dog to attend the meet. Our usual process is that you will need to come and meet the dog and that adoption is then done on a second meet.
