Daisy is a 6 month old female Lurcher. I think she is Greyhound cross Whippet and appears bigger than she is actually is in some of the pictures, being fostered in a family home with teenagers in Gloucestershire with 3 other dogs and two cats. Lovely Daisy came into our care after being brought of Gumtree! The lady who brought her felt even though she was bigger than she wanted she did not want to leave her where she was and that was how she ended up in our care. Since the day Daisy came in she has not been a moments trouble, a very sweet sensitive little girl, she is not the most confident but only because I feel she has not been taken out much and socialised. Now this process has started she is soaking life up like a little sponge. She is what I call an old soul very knowing little girl, she watches me constantly to make sure everything is okay as she trusts me now. She is great with my dogs, I have two older ones which she ignores really and the younger one they play together.
Out and about she is amazing off the lead and her recall especially for a Lurcher is spot on, but this could change I know as she gets more confident. She is now saying hello to new dogs she meets on the walks but this is still cautious, but if they are over the top she will run from them. I have done quite a lot with her the last few days – she has been to a big agility show and that was very scary for her to begin with but after a hour she just settled down and loved it she was amazing, taking in all the sights, melting people’s hearts, so many dogs etc she did really well.
We have two cats which she fine with, the big white one is so laid back, the other is a bit dramatic at times and she has chased him the garden but in the house she is scared of him – I think if you have had a cat like our big one she would be fine I trust her completely as she is such a wimp if they tell her off. She traveled in the car well with a seat belt with no trouble. She has been to the pub, loves our woods and park. She can get scared on walks with people walking towards us with their dogs but again this improves it was a small path, lots of bikes going past which again was scary but again after about the 3rd one she understood it was nothing to be scared off. In such a short time she has made such progress. She walks well on the lead. She is fully house trained, sleeps in her crate at night without a peek.
A very loving little girl she loves to snuggle up to you. I must admit I am a little in love with this little lass and trying not to be. She is not particularly complicated and with the right family going to go on to be an amazing dog – although I think she is already, she needs people to continue the work we are putting into her getting used to the outside world, must be allowed on the sofa’s to cuddle you. Another dog or access to another dog which will help her confidence. Because of her gentle nature we do not want her going with an over the top dog in terms of playing etc as it would terrify her she needs another dog to play with but a gentle soul like her.
Daisy will be vaccinated, chipped, wormed & fleaed before she leaves us. If you feel you could be the right home for Daisy please email us for questionnaire.
