Dawson is a 7 year old male German Shepherd Cross. Before he arrived in the UK he had spent nearly his entire life in a Romanian shelter. Dawson is understandably nervous of people initially, especially men but after a few days of work, patience and lots of chicken he can also come to accept men that earn his trust.
Dawson has been adopted once and returned to us for his issues with men so this time we need to be sure that adopters fully understand that if men he doesn’t know come into the house he will have to be put away as he just cannot cope with it.
Dawson is very happy to spend time in a crate when men are round, and has absolutely no objection to this, so it’s safer for everyone and kinder on him to not be put into situations that stress him.
Dawson loves his walks and behaves well whilst with his fosterer but again I last home environment he was protective so he needs to know that he’s not in charge and protection is not needed from him. Dawson fostered in Surrey.
Ideally Dawson needs a German Shepherd Dog savvy, quiet home where he can be lavished with the fuss and love he had never known until now. He loves cuddles and a good belly rub, once he is bonded with you he is like a big teddy bear!
He is very calm and quiet although he does have a bark to tell you there is someone outside the house! He listens to guidance and once he has been told “No” he understands straight away. His adopters need to be prepared to continue to build his confidence, to guide him and most importantly to love him and to not give up on him for the reasons we have mentioned above.
All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
