Diesel – 4 year old male Jack Russell Terrier

Hi, I’m Diesel, a very handsome 4 year old male Jack Russell Terrier. I’m looking for quite a specific new home with someone who has experience owning nervous rescue dogs of my breed. Unfortunately I’ve already had numerous homes and my carers would really like me to find my forever home this time.

What I’m looking for is a single owner, I don’t cope well with multiple people as I tend to form an extremely strong bond with one person and can become protective over that person.

My new owner will need to understand that I am very wary meeting new people so they will need to be prepared to do lots of visits at the centre to establish a good bond with me and understand that the rehoming process will be slow as my friends here will want to make sure I feel completely relaxed and comfortable with my new human.

As I find meeting new people very overwhelming I will need to be muzzled at all times when out and about in public and walks in quiet areas would be best. Once I have built up trust with someone my friends say I’m a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to play ball and go for nice walks (as long as I don’t get my paws too dirty!).

It’s essential I have a quiet, adult only home with no visiting children and minimal visitors. I do have some issues with guarding which my friends here will discuss with anyone interested in giving me my forever home.

I do need to continue working on my social skills with other dogs as I can be vocal when I see dogs on my walks and really don’t enjoy dogs being in my personal space, because of this and my guarding tendencies I am looking to be the only dog in the home. I am unable to live with cats or small furries because of my strong hunting instincts.

Due to the large amount of visits needed at the centre and prospective home visits required by any potential owner as part of the adoption process, plus follow up visits and support once rehomed Diesel will need to be rehomed locally.
