Duchess is a 8-9 year old Saluki cross Greyhound girl who up to now hasn’t had it easy. She was originally handed into another rescue with her daughter when the family decided they could no longer keep them. They were then re-homed as a pair but Duchess was returned to the rescue. Since then she has remained with them for over 12 months having no interest as she sat and shook in her kennel and was totally stand-offish.

Duchess has now been residing with me for two weeks, she is an angel. She can be stand-offish at times BUT for anyone who knows Salukis or Saluki Lurchers well thats what they do!! Duchess is spotlessly clean in the house and good to be left with other dogs she would probably be fine as an only dog HOWEVER we do realise that Duchess adores her own kind and would love to become a part of an established pointy pack or with another resident pointy at least.
Duchess loves to have her bum scritched and her ears rubbed and will do a little dance for you when she wants attention, she is so gentle and prancy its beautiful to watch.
Out on walks Duchess is a different dog, she is very alert and there is no doubt that at some point in her life she has been a very keen worker. Duchess will need to remain leashed and muzzled out on walks and does like to have a bounce of the end of her leash when she sees other dogs a typical breedist sighthound, she is NOT cat friendly and will react again on leash if she sees a cat or small furry.
Duchess is spayed vaccinated and microchipped, and will be a fabulous addition to any home. You really do not know you have this girl she just slips into the house routine and gets on with it. As she is a slightly older lady Duchess would prefer a home with no young children, 10 and over but saying that please don’t think this gentle girl is over the hill because she is far from it. If we didnt know Duchess age and her little white face didnt give it away we would put her more like a 4 year old she is very physically fit and loves to romp and play in the house with all of my younger hounds!!
