Gem – 9 year old female Akita

Gem is a 9-year-old female Akita currently residing in Lincolnshire. This lovely lady, who celebrated her birthday in January, finds herself in need of a new home, a circumstance entirely unrelated to any issues on her part.

Gem exudes a friendly and sociable nature, as evident in her joyous greeting of our assessor with a happy dance, flattened ears, and a wiggly bottom.

During the visit, she displayed contentment by lying down, showcasing her relaxed and happy demeanor in the presence of company.

Despite her more senior age, Gem is in good health and maintains a playful disposition.

Presently cohabiting with two other Akitas, the organisation acknowledges the challenges of rehoming three senior Akitas together, making it a consideration to place Gem in a home either as the sole pet or potentially with an already neutered male companion.

As Gem hasn’t experienced living with children, the preference is for an adult-only household or one with older teenage children. Unfortunately, her compatibility with cats remains unknown as she has not been cat-tested.

In her current home, Gem shares her living space with George and Foxy, highlighting her potential to coexist harmoniously with other dogs.

It’s worth noting that Gem is not an overly demanding dog, as she doesn’t require excessive exercise but is still lead-trained and housetrained.

If Gem, this affectionate love bug, has captured your attention and you are considering providing her with a forever home, the organisation would welcome your inquiry.
