Gemma is a stunning Podenco (Ibizian Hound) 65cm to the shoulder and weighs 19.8kg. She is approx. 12-18months old. Gemma was one of the Podenco’s rescued from the Bullas Camp in Spain. Local rescues were given 24 hours to remove as many of these poor dogs from the terrible conditions that they had been living in. Gemma was one of the lucky ones, she was saved and is ready for her new home.Gemma is a stunning girl with the most beautiful jade-coloured eyes. She was exhausted when she was rescued from the Camp, but she has already come out of her shell and begun developing into a sweet and playful girl. She loves the company of other dogs, is really affectionate and really enjoys her walks. Despite her tough start in life, she is a happy girl looking for that special place she can call home. She really does deserve a chance.
Gemma’s ideal home would be an active home with another dog where she can get lots of exercise and then have a good sleep on the sofa! She is a typical hound and will need a secure garden. Podencos are very common dogs out in Spain, commonly used for hunting, and treated terribly. However they make wonderful pets, and are loving, sweet natured and full of personality. They love their home comforts and of-course also enjoy there runs. However anyone who adopts a podenco must be aware that they do not have good recall and it is very hard to train them off the lead, sight-hound experience is preferable. This gorgeous girl has so much to give the right home! She is a wonderful girl and we cant wait to see her flourish in her own home!
Gemma is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and has a pet passport. She is fostered in Mid-Wales.
