Adorable Golfa is a young 1 year old female Spanish Mastin. She is black and white, short and soft coated Spanish Mastin girl with a super personality. She was abandoned in a village in an awful state, famished and full of fleas. She has recovered and is enjoying her life very much at a foster home with 2 children, 3 other dogs and a lot of cats.
We could say she is human dependent, though she does not have separation anxiety, but she wants to be close to people at all times. She needs someone ready to give and receive non-stop cuddles!
Golfa is extremely affectionate, we are confident she will become her owner’s shadow and demand constant affection. She is sociable with other dogs and she can live with cats. She would love a home with other animals. She loves children, she is great with them. After she was rescued, the whole world was new for her and even though she is still a bit fearful around new things, she is a very good girl. We are looking for a home with another dog to keep her company and show her the ropes.
Foster Report: Golfa is very loving and sociable with people, although she is still a bit shy with strangers, it doesn’t take her long to ask for a fuss. She wants to be glued to someone who constantly pets her! She is very sociable with all dogs, she’s never had a problem with any dogs. She was wary of our (unfriendly) cats at first, and would growl at them out of fear (she never tried to approach them, chase them or attack them), and eventually after a few weeks she relaxed around them. Now she ignores them.
She had no idea how to walk with a lead and she has improved a lot, but there is room for improvement. She is not used to cities and traffic, she doesn’t enjoy it much, so we are looking for a rural environment for her. If she hears people approaching our home, she barks loud to let us know. She would be any child’s best friend; she is absolutely loving, patient and gentle with them. Despite her young age, she is not too active, she is quite calm. She loves going for long walks and also long naps.
We feed Golfa separately from the other animals as we need to be careful with her around food: she was very skinny when she was rescued, it’s obvious she used to starve and she still feels she has to protect her food. It’s nothing too serious, she doesn’t get aggressive, but she gets nervous and has improved since she arrived with us. It will continue to improve as she gains confidence in her new home. She is still young and has chew a shoe or two, but when people around she is very well-behaved.
