Heidi – 9 month old female Golden Retriever

Heidi is a 9 month old female Golden Retriever. We were all very surprised when Heidi came through the shelter gates. A young, healthy, seemingly well cared for a very sociable Golden Retriever with a huge heart and a loving nature – surely someone must have been missing their companion? We checked her for a microchip (of course, there wasn’t one) and she was posted on all of the lost and found pages, but no one came forward to collect her.

Heidi is now waiting for her new forever home. She’s ready to fly to the UK on our 14th October flight. Heidi’s estimated DOB is January 2022, so she’s still a young dog and is in need of a home that can offer her lots of time, training and exercise. She is very, very good with other dogs and people, and she shares her kennel with another female pup at present who can be a little bossy.

In response to her, Heidi respects her space and is quite submissive so as not to cause any arguments. She reads social cues and body language really well, and is very keen to please. Heidi is super friendly and would make a terrible guard dog as all she’s interested in is being fussed over and making friends. She would welcome a burglar with open arms into her new home!

Although she boasts the typical, goofy Golden Retriever energy that is well known and loved, Heidi is also quick to learn new things and would excel with some training to instil some basic manners. Due to her environment, Heidi hasn’t had the opportunity to be introduced to cats. She is however really friendly with children and we wouldn’t envisage any issues if she was adopted to a family who had kids.

She loves attention and the opportunity to play with anyone, so some little friends would be great for her! As mentioned already, she is fab with other dogs and could be happily homed alongside an existing resident pup. Heidi is confident and keen to explore, but might find inner city life a little overwhelming. She would prefer a home on the outskirts where it’s a little quieter, and she would really love a family who enjoy an active lifestyle and like to spend time outdoors.

Heidi would also benefit from having access to her own garden. Heidi is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home, but we’d love for her to leave Cyprus on the 14th October when we have our next flight scheduled.
