Hope is an 8 year old female German Shepherd. Hope was rescued in Cyprus and has flown to the UK to help her find her forever family. Whilst we cannot be 100% certain, she does seem to be a full German Shepherd girl. She is currently living with her foster mum in Langport, Somerset. Here is a little about her from her foster mum. Hope has settle in very well. I find her the sweetest old girl ever. She sleeps most of the day and would not be a demanding dog for anyone to have. My vet has checked her and says she is in pretty good condition for her age. She also said Hope would only need a couple of 20min walks at the moment which could be built up to a bit longer over time.
The few times I have walked her she seems more interested in sniffing around than walking. She is very friendly with people, comes up and gives them licks on the hand to say hello. She is brilliant in the car, just lies down and is quite happy to travel with you. She is living with a female 9yr old cross breed and they get on absolutely fine and we had a large German Wire Haired Pointer here for the day and she was fine with him and the other couple of dogs she has met. I have been able to leave Hope at home for a few hours (with my own dog, Libby, so not totally alone) and she seems to be fine with this. She’s pleased to see you when you come in but not unduly stressed.
As we haven’t been out much yet, Hope hasn’t met any cats but I don’t think she would be very interested in them. Hope is good around food, doesn’t seem possessive over anything and has been clean in the house from the start. She sleeps well on a large bed in the kitchen at night and will sometimes go and sleep in Libby’s crate (her choice and I don’t think she would need a crate).
She has met my 6yr old granddaughter, she came up to her and licked her hand then kept out of her way. I think she would be fine to live with slightly older children, maybe 10-12yr olds. When in Cyprus she was neglected and unloved. She had a really bad ear infection which wasn’t treated and this has left her totally deaf. Older children would be able to understand that they should be careful around her, especially when she is asleep.
Hope is looking for a loving home where she will have a comfy bed and garden to relax in.
