Hunter – 3 year old male Greyhound

Our wonderful Hunter is now ready to find his forever home. This boy has not had an easy life till now. He first raced on a registered track before heading off to a flapping track and being injured badly in his first race and then ending up in a *rescue centre* where he languished before coming into Gaps care. Hunter is a dream of a dog an absolute darling. His racing accident resulted in a very serious knee injury and when he landed with us he was lame, uncomfortable and had no muscle tone. He has now had the knee fully investigated and sadly there is nothing more that can be done to repair the injury however we are over the moon to say that with good diet and good regular exercise he is managing fine on it and doing really well.

Hunter could easily live with other Greyhounds or he could also happily be an only dog and we feel with sensible precautions he would also make a great first greyhound. We really hope that any homes are not put off by his injury as this sensitive boy does not deserve to languish in kennels. He was kennelled with a female until today but she has now taken a few swipes at him so been separated. Hunter was a gentleman with her and just took it and never ever showed any sign of retaliating.

Hunter is only 3 years old and the most handsome blue boy ever! He is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped, has been neutered and has had a dental. He will also come with a months free insurance. Hunter will need an understanding home who appreciate that as he gets older the knee may slow him down a bit quicker than other aging greyhounds but he is still a wonderful boy with a lot of love to give. Hunter is not cat friendly and can live with children 6 years and upwards.

Hunter is currently in Stoke on Trent and anyone interested in homing him should in the first instance complete the pre adoption questionnaire.

Greyhound Gap
Greyhound Gap

Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in our kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes. Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed throughout the UK subject to a suitable home visit being carried out.

If you are interested in adopting a dog from Greyhound Gap, we would ask that in the first instance you could take a few moments to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire if you have not already done so:
