Iris – 1 year old female Cross-Breed

Iris is a 1 year old female Cross-Breed. She was rescued as a stray from a small village in Cyprus where she had been found wandering as a stray. She was adopted shortly after, travelling to a lovely home in Glasgow at the start of December 2021. However, it’s become clear since being in a home setting that Iris just isn’t suited to living with resident cats, and sadly we’re looking for a new home for her.

Iris is almost one year old and is a very beautiful young dog. It’s likely, based on her reactions to the cats, that she is part hound, so naturally her chase instinct is more prominent that some other breeds. This in mind we’re looking for a home without other small pets. She can however be homed with other dogs and has got along well with other dogs both in the shelter and in her current home.

Iris is a lively dog with a curious nature. Her personality in the past few weeks has really started to emerge and she’s become more cheeky. She does take a little while to trust new people, but she’s not afraid, just a little apprehensive. When she does bond with you she’s very friendly, affectionate and enjoys the company.

Iris is looking for a semi-rural home with a garden. She loves to be outside and play and is starting to understand the concept of ‘fetch’ now too! She’s never shown any signs of resource guarding, but might occasionally steal an item that doesn’t belong to her if she’s feeling mischievous. She has responded really well to having another dog to learn from when it comes to walking on the lead but will sometimes pull when she’s walking on her own, so this needs a little extra work but is nothing major. Iris is also fully housetrained and sleeps overnight in an open crate without any fuss.

Although she’s not been living with children we feel comfortable considering homes with kids aged 8+. Iris is still a young dog we would encourage continued training to help her form a bond with her new family and her help grow into a well rounded young adult dog. She’s settled very well and had her current family not got cats we wouldn’t have an issue at all.

If you’d like to meet Iris, or are interested in learning more if you’re not Glasgow based, please get in touch.
