Jake – 1-2 year old male Lurcher

Jake is a 1-2 year old male Lurcher. He needs a new home through no fault of his own. He isn’t socialised with other dogs as his owners are anxious about him being around them so he will be reactive but today he walked past one with little interest in his assessment so it’s something that can definitely be worked on.

He lives with a cat (although he does want her to play she refuses and puts him in his place) so a cat that’s ok with other dogs should be an option for him.

He resource guards his food (but not toys and he has no issue when his humans are eating their food) and he doesn’t like people interrupting him when he’s on his own bed so for that reason we want an adult only home or with teenagers with experience of dogs.

He’s just a giddy pup who hasn’t been left much (he’s put in an outdoor run when he is left currently as he chewed as a puppy although the owners do not know if that would be the case now they prefer to keep him outside) so we are looking for a home where his training will be continued and he won’t be left alone too long.

He loves people and was super friendly when I met him today – I got many kisses. He can mouth at your hands when playing but it’s not an issue at all and is just excitement. He travels well and walks well on his lead – if he sees another dog he will pull but otherwise he is easy to walk. He loves playing with his toys and having zoomies as you’d expect given his age. He’s neutered, vaccinated and chipped.

As always we require everyone in the family and any children who are regularly going to be in contact with the dog to attend the meet. Our usual process is that you will need to come and meet the dog and that adoption is then done on a second meet.
