Jimmy – 12 month old male Terrier Cross

Jimmy is a 12 month old male Terrier Cross. He will be joining us towards the end of this month. He will be fostered with other dogs in an adult home in Gloucestershire. This lovely dog was found in a terrible state after being dumped on an urbanisation in Spain.

I personally have been helping the Spanish dogs for over 10 years but had stopped the last few years due to Brexit, Covid. We have only worked with the same rescue and any dogs we bring back I have personally met and spent time with. On my recent holiday as, usual I went to help at the rescue with photos, assessing etc, my friend kept saying please help Jimmy he is so lovely and special.

On meeting him all you see is this little love bug – not sure anyone told him he was a Terrier. He loves to be love on your lap upside down as close to you as he can, the next thing he loves doing is playing with his friends. This is what Jimmy loves doing best getting cuddles.

Close second is playing with this friends ->

He lives in a house at the rescue alongside multiple dogs with no problems, he adores them all. Playing with his house mates ->

With his foster family ->

We took him out and about and he behaved so well meeting new people, dogs, children etc – he was a bit shy and unsure you could tell but he coped really well. Out and about ->

Meeting new dogs ->

New people ->

Meeting a very young child ->

In the environment he is used to at the rescue he is a very happy confident little dog well like by humans and dogs a like.

With Jane one of the volunteers at the rescue ->

Playing with his plastic bottle ->

Jimmy is another special dog over looked, so I agreed along with one other dog to help him. Needs to be with people who understand Terriers and have had rescue dogs before, would say he confidence out and about needs a bit of work, he would not suit a busy family home – a country home with friends to play with would be perfect.

For further details regarding one of our dogs please email us at starfishdogrescue@hotmail.co.uk for our application form

Starfish Dog Rescue is a small Rescue helping UK dogs established since 2011.

The dogs that find their way to us are those in need of support in a small home-based rescue where the dogs are fostered as our own in our homes, the old, the young and more vulnerable that would not do well with a kennel-based rescue.

We work closely with the dogs assessing them so we know them so well we can give potential owners a complete picture of the dogs and what they need in the form of a forever home, we home our dogs as if they are our own and have a 99.9% success rate in matching dogs and people up we will never compromise so please do not be offended when we say no which is quite often our rescue is about the dogs first and their needs we home them knowing if they could speak it's about their perfect match.

We are a small team of local volunteers who have worked together closely for many years now many of us have worked for larger organisation where sometimes people lose sight of the most important factors and that is the dogs.

All our dogs are neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed/fleaed to us that is just the basics, dogs will get everything they need to make sure they lead a healthy happy life before they leave us, if they need surgery for heart problems, treatment for ear infections, dentals for infected teeth to name a few they will get it - we often organise fund raisers to help pay their vet fees from our wonderful supporters.

Each dog is a special precious soul and will always be the centre of what Starfish is - a Rescue that is all about the dogs.
