Kyle was a ghost, slipping between the cracks of a world that had forgotten him. When we found him in a kill shelter in December 2024, he wasn’t barking for help, he wasn’t fighting for food—he was hiding in the farthest corner of the last cage, waiting to disappear.
Too weak to move. Too terrified to hope. Too broken to believe anyone would come for him. If we hadn’t seen him, truly seen him, Kyle wouldn’t have survived another day. He would have starved, been attacked, or simply faded away—forgotten.
So we saved him. But Kyle still doesn’t know he’s safe. He is gentle, but the world has not been gentle to him. He is kind, but he doesn’t yet believe in kindness.
Kyle has never been loved, and he doesn’t know what it feels like. He is struggling in the pension. The noise, the movement, the overwhelming presence of other dogs—it’s too much for a soul as fragile as his.
