Lady and Maisie – 3 and 5 year old female Lurchers

Lady and Maisie is a 3 year old and 5 year old female Lurchers. They came into our care after their owner sadly passed away. They had been left alone in the property and were becoming increasingly distressed. As soon as we were made aware of Lady and Maisie’s plight we went to collect them and brought them to safety at the rescue.

Due to their owner’s prolonged illness it was clear to see that Lady and Maisie had not been given the level of care that they needed. They were extremely thin upon arrival and were suffering from a flea infestation and pressure sores. Unfortunately we do not know much about their history but they are settling in well here.

Lady and Maisie are very sweet, friendly girls who like to jump up to say hello to everyone they meet! Lady (the younger of the two) is more enthusiastic and playful, whereas Maisie is a little more reserved. They are very affectionate and really enjoy company. They do not appear to have been taught many commands such as sit and stay but we are sure they will pick this up in time.

Walk times are always welcome and so far they appear to be non-reactive towards other dogs, however we will be continuing to monitor this. Like many Lurchers Lady and Maisie do have a prey drive so extra care will need to be taken around small furry animals!

We are still in the process of helping Lady and Maisie to gain weight, they are being fed little and often throughout the day. They are otherwise both bright and healthy and we expect them to make a full recovery.

Lady and Maisie share a very strong bond and after their ordeal we would like to find them a home where they can stay together. As we do not know their full history we are looking for a pet free home where any children are at least 16 years old.

We do suspect that Lady and Maisie may suffer from some separation anxiety so will benefit from a home with someone around for most/all of the day.
