Leo – 2 year old male Shih Tzu

Leo is a 2 year old male Shih Tzu. He came into our care after his owner was moving into accommodation that would not allow pets. Leo is full of character and is generally a friendly and outgoing boy. He enjoys playing with toys and going for walks.

Before coming into our care Leo’s owner did try to rehome him privately but he bit the lady as she tried to retrieve him from seeking shelter under a table. Whilst in our care Leo has shown some territorial behaviour and can be reactive whilst in his kennel but is fine once outside. He does not like the vet or groomers so patience will be needed with this.

Leo did recently go for a trial visit at a home with another dog but was displaying some dominance in regards to scent marking the other dog and not allowing him to enter the home. Due to this we feel he would be best suited to being the only dog. He cannot live with cats. Leo is in good health and does not have any ongoing medical issues.

We are looking for an experienced home for Leo, preferably with someone who has owned Shih Tzus before. Leo cannot live with young children and would be best suited to an adult only home. Due to his young age he will need a home with someone around for most/all of the day.

Leo will require multiple visits at the rescue in order to form a bond with him before adoption so please do bare your location in mind before you apply to adopt him.
