Lily is an 8 year old female Cross-Breed. She has spent most of her life in Botosani public shelter in Romania. She was in the long stay area of the shelter and we wouldn’t have noticed her if we didn’t look right to the back where she was huddled up and trying her best to be invisible.
Even here, its took her a little while to let her guard down and let herself be visible, she hid from us for about a month then all of a sudden she decided we weren’t too bad and really started to make progress. As she gains confidence her happy cheeky little nature is shining through and she’s finally starting enjoy life, she loves her walks it really brightens up her day and she bounds about like a puppy.
She is still very afraid of men, particularly tall or loud ones but she does come round slowly after a while so any men in the home would have to be willing to be very patient with her. She’s going to need a patient and kind home, with no small children, one that will be understanding of her initial shyness, help her gain confidence and allow her to progress at her own pace, but when she does, you see the sweet little dog she is. She would love to live with at least one other calm and tolerant dog to help with her confidence and to show her the way in her new home.
Please note it is Safe Rescue policy that all dogs adopted from us must wear a slip lead to be walked for the duration of their lives. Too many dogs are lost from slipping out of collars and harnesses and many of our dogs are timid due to past ill treatment and are likely to panic when out and about. It is absolutely okay to use these things additionally to slip leads, but not instead of. Lily is a fostered in South Shields.
We also request that extendable retractable leads are never used on our dogs. If you are opposed to slip leads, please do not enquire about our dogs as this is non negotiable. Thank you for understanding. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
