Lola – 5 year old female Mastiff Cross

Staffie and Stray Rescue Dorset February 23, 2021

Lola is a 5 year old female Mastiff Cross. She is a gorgeous girl who looks a little like Scooby Doo! A special home is needed for our lovely Lola. Lola has had several homes in her young life, some which we believe have been traumatic for her.

Lola is apprehensive around other dogs, so needs to be the only pet in the home and will need to continue to work with the behaviourist while out on walks. She is a big beauty. She can be quite wary on initial meetings with people but she is actually such a gentle, loving girl.

She is used to children but would suit a quieter, calm home. Her confidence is really coming out since beginning to settle in her foster home, we are starting to see her playful side.

Lola loves her food, and loves to learn. Lola walks beautifully on a lead but is muzzled. please don’t let that put you off. Lola loves her human company but is comfortable being left for reasonable amounts of time.

Lola is good as gold in the home, she is house trained and generally a very chilled out and calm girl. She is a bit of a coach potato. In the right home we feel this lovely girl will blossom.

Lola is very reactive to other dogs having sadly been attacked in her previous life requiring veterinary treatment. She can sometimes walk past comfortably, but only from a reasonable distance. Other times she finds it a real struggle. As she is strong on the lead we have muzzle trained her to take precautions. That being said she would be more than happy with just a couple of 2o minute walks for some exercise and a change of scenery in a quiet area away from other dogs and would be quite content with a nice garden.

Lola likes to get to know people in her own time and would prefer a quieter household with infrequent visitors.

Lola has been through a lot and needs a calm who can help her build her confidence again. We will need you to continue to work with our behaviorist on confidence around other dogs and away from the home. She will need an experienced, understanding home who we can work with to help her overcome her anxieties.

For further details regarding adopting a dog from Staffie and Stray Rescue, based in Bournemouth in Dorset, please email staffiesrescue@gmail.com or visit the website www.staffieandstrayrescue.co.uk The aim of this non-profit organisation is to find foster homes and permanent homes for dogs in need of a new home. They take on dogs whose owners are no longer able to look after them due to unforeseen circumstances. Staffie and Stray Rescue are also in the process of developing a campaign to help change people’s negative attitudes towards Staffordshire bull terriers, who are often portrayed as dangerous dogs in the media. With 75% of stray dogs being Staffordshire bull terriers, they hope to encourage more people to rehome the breed.
