Lola is a medium-sized 3 year old female Podenco Andaluz. She is in a private shelter in Spain until she has a home to go to. Lola is a larger Podenco and has the most fabulous ears! She has been at the Spanish refuge we work closely with for 2 years so we have had lots of time to get to know her. She’s now more than ready to find her own forever sofa.
Lola is a calm dog, friendly girl. She is gentle as well as beautiful. She weighs 18.3kg but would benefit from losing a couple of kilos, which will come with regular daily exercise. She is 48cm tall x 49cm long. She would be best suited for a family without children who are able to spend precious time with her and would not leave her alone for long periods of time. She will need a patient and experienced adopter to help her gain her confidence in her new environment.
A garden will be essential for her as well as a confident and calm dog in the home. She is friendly with the visiting children, but we think a home where she would get more attention would be better for her. She would be fine with visiting grandchildren.
Lola will need a lot of socialisation with as many adults and children as possible. She needs to become used to a wide range of events, environments and situations. She would be best suited to a home without cats as she hasn’t been cat tested. Our “nervous dogs group” worked with her getting her used to having a harness and lead put on.
This was an achievement as she was scared of being ‘tied’ because previously she had been tied up to be beaten. We were overjoyed the day she got the courage to come out of the gate for a walk. She really loves her walks and is a darling.
This is her story: in April 2018 Lola was picked up by our volunteers in a local town. Lola has since learned to trust the volunteers in the refuge and overcome her life on the streets. Lola has had her bags packed for a long time now, and we hope to find her a home soon, so she can unpack them! She is neutered, vaccinated, blood tested, microchipped, and has a passport.
