Luca – 5 year old male Greyhound

Meet Luca a scrumptious, big huggable chunk of a boy! No longer ‘required’ he has thankfully landed on his feet with Kerry Greyhounds UK and is now in a foster home awaiting his new life with his (hopefully) soon to be forever family. He is a stunning blue brindle boy who is approximately 28″ to the shoulder and only 5 years old. If you’re looking for a whole lot of love who likes to roach and be cuddled then look no further! He really will make a lovely addition to the lucky family who adopts him. Luca is a handsome, gorgeous and fab boy who always keeps a favourite soft toy close by so he can play with it and fling it in the air at any given time! He is a ray of sunshine and will make anyone and everyone smile and laugh with his funny antics and lovely character.

[rehomed]

Luca loves visitors but can forget his manners with sheer excitement so can be a bit bouncy initially but calms down very quickly for strokes and attention. He is very responsive to basic training other than his little bouts of excitement and is very clean in the home. He sleeps quietly through the night with no problems whatsoever and really is a joy to be around. Luca adores the 3 female Greyhounds he is currently sharing his foster home with. He is very calm and polite around medium/large dogs but would benefit from ongoing socialisation/training around small yappy dogs which he can at times take interest in. He is unfortunately not cat friendly.

Luca loves his walks and is currently doing 1.5 hours walking a day although he could do more… Only in fine weather though as he’s not so keen when it’s raining and would rather stay roaching! He is very good on the lead although can pull very slightly if he sees a small furry animal. His foster Mum also recommends that he wears a muzzle in a busy area with lots of small dogs off lead, just in case one runs up to him and catches him unaware.

In general Greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

We feel Luca would suit most family environments but would very much like to have an active family who will take him on lots of long walks and spoil him! He would love the company of another Greyhound but could possibly be an only dog in the right family with people who are around the majority of the time and prepared to dote on him and keep him stimulated. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Suffolk to meet and collect him. Please note we do not home dogs to families with children under the age of 8 years.

Luca is currently living in a foster home in Suffolk. Luca is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flead and wormed and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

Kerry Greyhounds UK
Kerry Greyhounds UK

Kerry Greyhounds UK operates through a network of volunteers to rehome greyhounds and lurchers. The majority of our dogs are from Ireland. We are dedicated to finding the very best forever homes and provide ongoing support and encouragement to all of our placement families and hounds.

We neuter, vaccinate and microchip each dog and give them a veterinary check before they are rehomed. We rely on public donations to enable us to carry out our work and refuse, on principle, any financial assistance from the greyhound racing industry.

If you have an adoption enquiry, please either email us at bronwen@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or telephone Bronwen on 075 000 62648.
