Mars is a 10 month old female Spanish Mastin Cross. She is currently in Northern Spain and came into our care some time ago, having been found abandoned with her brother Bruno, and is now ready to find her forever home. Mars is very affectionate and loves attention from people – and she can be quite a diva about getting it too! She has a bit of a habit of jumping to ask for attention, though we are working on teaching her to remain calm when asking for affection and she’s doing very well with this.

She is bouncier and more confident than her brother. She is sociable with other dogs, but wants to be in charge. So a home with a submissive dog or a home without other dogs where she would be the centre of attention would be the best fit for her. Mars also gets along with cats, as long as the cat is also used to be around dogs and doesn’t run away of her.
Mars weighs 37kg, is obedient, and with the right training and socialisation, will blossom into a wonderful adult dog. People who know the breed know how loyal and wonderful big softies they are, but also how independent and stubborn they can be. That’s why the education and training of these dogs can sometimes become challenging. Therefore we are looking for a home that is familiar with this breed or used to have big sized dog at home.
We feel an adult only home, or one with teenage children who are experienced and confident around big dogs would be best. Mars needs a patient and caring family who will teach her manners and how to live in a home environment. We don’t know if she’s ever experienced this before, but we’re sure she’ll absolutely thrive with the love and attention of her own family.
Mars is used to having space to run and move around and play with other dogs, so we feel a family with a fully fenced garden, ideally in the countryside, would be the best option for her. She is spayed, vaccinated, was tested negative for Mediterranean diseases and is more than ready to travel to her new home in Wales or England (NOT Scotland) as soon as the right family that opens the doors of their home comes forward.
