Martha is a 7 year old female Springer cross English Cocker Spaniel. In the 5 weeks I have had Martha she has grown in confidence and now has good recall and most of her walks are off the lead. She can hurtle up and down steps and stairs as well as any dog who hasn’t had ‘wonky’ legs. Her legs are now much stronger and you’d hardly know she’d had problems with them. She is so affectionate and really deserves a loving home. She will still howl if left on her own but is fine with my dogs when I am out.
Martha is a lovely chocolate roan cocker/sprocker who loves people, dogs and children. She has no issues in the house and gets on well with my 2 dogs (lab and springer) although she is quite pushy with them but they are so chilled it’s not a problem. I have left her for up to 3 hours with them without a peep but if Martha is left on her own she howls. She travels well in the car and settles in the pub loving all the attention she gets. She was nervous with the fireworks but came to me for reassurance and soon stopped shaking.
I have tested her recall and she has come back every time so I now let her off when it is safe to do so. She is currently fed on a soft food because she had a dental (6 teeth out) 2 weeks ago. Now for the negative – occasionally Martha will dig her heels in and not want to walk this is usually the am walk the rest of the time she is fine. Neither myself, SAUK or the vet can work out why this is. I think she is not a morning dog!
Please do not let Martha’s wonky legs put you off it doesn’t stop her from doing anything including jumping in the car and on the sofa. She loves cuddles, is good to be brushed and even has her teeth cleaned. At night she settles downstairs with my dogs and I don’t get a peep out of her unless it’s her tail wagging when I come down.
This is what Martha says about the forever home she wants – I love being made a fuss of so would like to be an only dog but I do howl if I’m left on my own so maybe I should have another dog to keep me company. I would like a flat garden where I can go outside without any steps as I’m not very good with stairs or steps. Children give me the best cuddles so I don’t mind if there are children in the house but whoever will love me I will love them back even more.
Martha is not neutered due to the timing of her season and will be rehomed with a contract to do so and not with entire males. She is chipped vaccinated wormed and flead and adoption is subject to meet and greet homecheck and adoption fee. Applications via forms section of website please.
