Maurice is a 6 year old male small Cross-Breed.

Meet this handsome chap, Maurice. This young man is a real sweetheart with a lovely temperament who loves his people and loves nothing more than cuddling with you on the sofa.

Maurice plays with the odd soft toy but his all time favourite is a tennis ball, he always holds one in his mouth when he goes out and likes to chase the them in the garden.

He absolutely loves his food and his foster uses sensitive grain free food as others make his skin a little itchy, his adopter should be mindful of this requirement. His favourite treats are pig ears and duck strips. His foster says “he is so lovable.

He enjoys a cuddle on the sofa. He is easy to train. Quirky and amusing boy”. Maurice is good with other dogs but would like to be the only dog in the home and have you all to himself, he can become very jealous over his humans when other the dogs in the home are shown affection.

For this reason only, he would be best as an only dog. At the same time, he can try and protect his doggy sibling from other dogs when out on walks so being an only dog may lessen this stressor.

Maurice is never aggressive and doesn’t touch other dogs but he will bark at them to stay away. When he is off lead and walked without his sibling, he is absolutely fine with other dogs. And mixes well in the dog walking pack he meets often!

He is housetrained, sleeps all night and can be left. Maurice walks well on a lead and much prefers quieter routes with less traffic, he is used to walks in the woods where he loves to be off lead and go exploring but is never very far away from his humans (Maurice responds well to the whistle and has been easy to train in all basic commands).

He is scared of busy traffic especially motorbikes and has had behavioural training regarding his reaction to traffic, he is given high value treats and turned away from the trigger and with attention to timing and sight of the motorbike, this works very well.

Maurice was rescued with a self healed broken leg which may have been caused by a motor accident, this may explain his reaction to traffic but we cannot be certain but has not impaired him at all.

You would never know that his leg was injured in the past. His foster keeps him at his ideal weight of 13-14kg so that no extra pressure is put on his leg. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. This beautiful boy is currently in Southampton.
