Mavi – 8 year old male Cross-Breed

Mavi is an 8 year old male Cross-Breed. We want to present you to this lovely gentleman of small size (around 8-10 kg). He was wandering on the streets of Northern Spain, before the dogcatchers found him and that is how he ended up in the pound. His physical condition was at the beginning quite poor.

He was missing the fur of half of his body and he was extremely thin, but since we took him out into the boarding kennel and he is in our care, he recovered completely and has become the sunshine of the boarding kennel.

Mavi is not a typical oldie. Despite of his age he is an active and nervous dog, who likes to run, play and jump. He is very social with other dogs and people and gets along with everyone. Apart from that, he is a super affectionate little man who is always seeking for love and attention and doesn’t like anything more than to get cuddles and to be around people. He is also vocal and likes to speak to you, especially to claim you attention.

Mavi is a real sweetheart and each time you see him he puts a smile on your face and latest when you see how he sits and gives you the two paws to ask for cuddles you will fall in love with him.

Mavi was tested for the Mediterranean diseases and the test came back positive in Leishmaniosis. This is a quite usual illness in dogs in Southern countries. This disease can only be transmitted by the bite of the female sandfly and cannot be transmitted directly from dog to other dog, human or other animals.

Because of the positive results, he got a complete blood test to understand his condition, and the results were good because his levels are okay due to the Leishmaniosis not being active. He currently does not need any medication but he will need yearly blood tests to keep controlling his values and check that they keep stable. Despite of that he can make a complete normal life and live a happy and long life as any other dog.

Mavi is a lively boy and therefore he is looking for an active home, who would enjoy long walks with him on the beach or woods. He loves to be around people, so he is preferable also looking for a home where we will not have to spend too much time on his own. He has not been tested and cannot be tested with cats or children.

Further to this, there is not much more information that we can provide of him. He was collected from the streets and we do not have any information about his past or skills, so the person or family that adopts him has to assume that he did not have any training before.

Therefore, it is important that his new home is patient with him and has the experience and commitment to give him as much time as he needs to adapt to his new environment and home. We are sure that the family that opens the doors of their home to him will not regret it.

TeLuMa’s Dream
For further details regarding adopting a dog from TeLuMa’s Dream, please email Marta, Jessica, Olga or Alicia at telumasdream@gmail.com or visit our website www.telumasdream.co.uk. We are a voluntary organization which rescues primarily dogs from a public pound in Galicia, in Northern Spain, where the dogs instead of living, are trying to survive. 99% of the dogs are strays or have been abandoned by their owners on the street. The dogs are a variety of breeds and come in all shapes and sizes! We are funded entirely by donations and work hard in our free time to help rescue and rehome as many dogs as possible. With your help we can continue our work and provide food, bedding, medical supplies and care for the dogs until they are well enough to find their forever homes. All dogs rehomed via TeLuMa’s Dream are microchipped, fully vaccinated, wormed, deflead and spayed/neutered if old enough, if not the adoption contract will stipulate that this is done as soon as old enough and this will be checked with your vet. We re-home dogs anywhere in the U.K. This means that you can apply if you have a U.K postal code. Our aim is to pair each dog with the right new owner, ensuring that it will be safe, cared for and loved for the rest of its life. Therefore all potential adopters will be asked to complete a questionnaire. Also a homecheck is carried out and a phone interview prior to adoption. We offer a full rescue back up service to all our adopters and post-adoption support, which includes a Facebook support group and free behavioral advice.
