Maya – 3-4 year old female German Shepherd Dog

Maya is a beautiful 3-4 year old female German Shepherd Dog. She is black, tan, and a short-coat German Shepherd Dog. Poor Maya has been treated to a hard life, as when she was found she had a collar mark on her neck. She was probably she living tied to a chain and was abandoned on the beach in a very lean and dehydrated state and in big pain! She was taken immediately to the vet and the same day she had surgery because she had a big hernia. Happily, now Maya is totally recovered, she is very intelligent dog and she has already learned to walk on lead, with no pulling.

Despite her bad past, Maya is now nicely confident and very loving with us, but still reserved with unknown people. She is little bit suspicious and not confident with new people, but she understands quickly if she can trust someone and then is very relaxed around them. She still doesn’t like to be hugged with both arms, as we think she feels threatened and she reacts, but not in aggressive way, only she makes you understand she doesn’t want it.

Maya is a high- energy dog, she needs a lot of activity and exercise, she loves her walks and is eager to live her new life. Maya needs an experienced Shepherd owner who can be with her a lot of the time, as she is not happy being left for long. A retired couple or homeworker would suit her best. She gets nervous with cats, but is friendly with dogs, and we think children over 15 years who know not to hug her. Maya will make a fantastic companion for an experienced owner who can teach her to trust, with patience and love.
