Mina is a 5 and a half year old, medium size (shoulder height: 50 cm, weight: 25 kg) Labrador cross female with a real soft nature and that beautiful, vulnerable look in her eyes. She was rescued from a high kill shelter where she was already scheduled to be put to sleep. She had such a serious ear infection that she had to go to surgery and both her external auditory ducts were removed so she lost her hearing. She has spent the last more than 2 years in a crowded shelter which in not ideal for any dog, but especially hard for a non-hearing girl who would need a safe environment and stability for her to flourish. She needs her special family now to notice her and give her a chance at long last!
Mina is a real treasure, very cuddly and friendly with everyone, including people, children, dogs and cats. She is slightly shy at first but it’s easy to gain her trust once she sees you mean no harm. She is a real sweetheart, very loving who so deserves a good home after all she’s been through. She is perfect with dogs, very sociable and gentle, rather submissive and never dominant. She currently lives peacefully with a pack of dogs in the shelter. She has also been introduced to cats and she passed the test with flying colours. She currently does not get walked regularly so she will need some training.
Mina would need her family either to have experience with training a dog with hearing difficulties or to be committed to train her. She would be best suited with a family without or with children over 10 where she is not left alone for long periods of time and there is time for her training. Her future family will need to be patient and give her time to settle and gain her confidence in her new environment. We want her to become part of the family and be looked after and cared for well. Her soft and sociable nature makes her a perfect family pet and she deserves the best home. She could happily live with a friendly doggie mate as she is quite sociable, but she would be equally happy living with her humans to care for her only.
Mina is currently in Hungary and can travel to the UK as soon as the right family’s found for her. She comes fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea and tick treated, with an EU passport and DEFRA approved paperwork. Adoption is subject to Home Check and Adoption fee.
