Motte is a 5 and a half year old, medium size spayed female mix breed (weight: 17 kg; shoulder height: 49 cm). She was originally rescued from a kill shelter and lived in a crowded no-kill shelter for 2.5 years. Due to her timidness, she did not approach the shelter staff or any visitors hence she did not get much attention and there wasn’t much hope that anyone would ever notice her among 200 other dogs.
At 5 years of age, chances are that she would have spent the rest of her life in the shelter, unforgotten. We took her over in July 2020 to give her the chance that every dog deserves and would like to find her a family she can finally call her own.
Motte was shy when she arrived but soon she became an affectionate girl who loves cuddles and keeps pushing her head under your hand for a stroke. She is still aloof with new people but not aggressive, she just needs time to get used to anyone new. If she finds something overwhelming, she gets frozen.
Motte is quite an active girl, full of energy who loves chasing her ball! She likes playing with soft toys or a frisbee too but her ball is her world! She is a clown with a funny character. She can be excitable around dogs and when outdoors and is calmer when in human company or in the house.
She is playful around dogs, but she tends to growl in the heat of a play which can be scary for stranger dogs. However, this is just the way she plays! She currently lives in peace with a selection of dogs but not all dogs appreciate her excitable nature. She sometimes tries to be bossy when a new dog arrives in the pack but as soon as she gets told off or ignored, she’s gone and never tries again. She really is just a ’brave bunny’!
Motte travels nicely in the car and behaved nicely at the vets too. She walks OK on the lead but she is not walked regularly and will need to be introduced to regular on and off lead walks. She is toilet trained and clean in the house.
Motte was successfully treated for dirofilaria and she is now tested negative and got the all clean. Motte would be best suited for a family without children where she is not left alone for long periods of time and there’s time for her training. She will need to be given time to settle in her new home. She needs a caring family who understands her and speaks doggie language.
She could potentially live with a friendly well-balanced dog, but she would probably be happiest being the only dog in the household. Experience with rescue dogs is a must, experience with shy or similar character dogs is preferred. No first time owners please. As all rescue dogs, she will need time, patience, love and commitment from her adopting family to become a happy dog.
Motte is currently in Hungary and can travel to the UK as soon as the right family is found for her. She comes fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea and tick treated, with an EU passport and DEFRA approved paperwork.
Adoption is subject to Home Check and Adoption fee. Full RBU provided.
