Murphy is a 1-2 year old male Labrador Cross. He is looking for an experienced home. His existing owners got him as a puppy but have not had a dog before. He has food and resource guarding issues which they feel unable to manage given that they have young children.

We are told that he can be reactive to some people out on walks too and can growl at his owners if he’s unhappy about certain things they try to make him do. Tonight at his assessment he was great with me and I think in an experienced home and once he is neutered this can be easily managed.

He needs a home with teenage children or older. He’s not been socialized with other dogs so needs to be an only dog initially (especially given the resource guarding) but again in the right hands he can be socialized with them I’m sure. He’s never been around cats so no to them. He can pull on walks but he walks on a halti. He’s ok to be left for reasonable periods and travels well. He’s vaccinated and chipped but not yet neutered (which will need to be done as soon as he’s in a home).

Forever homes can be anywhere within the UK but you will need to travel to us in South Yorkshire. As always we require everyone in the family and any children who are regularly going to be in contact with the dog to attend the meet. Our usual process is that you will need to come and meet the dog and that adoption is then done on a second meeting.

JLP Trust Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in South Yorkshire (Rotherham and the surrounding areas) and we offer help to animals who need us to find them a new home for whatever the reason.

Sadly many animals, especially in the South Yorkshire area, find themselves needing a new home, abandoned or neglected through no fault of their own. We try to help as many of these as possible through providing help with rehoming, foster homes and help to owners wherever possible to ensure that the animals remain safe, looked after and loved until a new forever home can be found.

For every animal we help we provide homechecks, vaccination, neutering and microchipping and lifetime back up if anything should go wrong in their new home.
