Murphy is a beautiful medium sized rough coated Lurcher boy probably Greyhound/Collie cross aged approximately 18-19 months old.  He was recently rehomed, but has sadly been returned to us through no fault of his own, his new owner sadly felt like he was a little too high energy for her and that she wasn’t bonding with him.

Murphy is a typical young Lurcher lad, he is great in the house and fine to be left in the company of another dog for a few hours without any accidents or destruction. He is loving and gentle and was in a foster home before with a young dog savy child and was great around him.

However, once out and about Murphy just loves to run, run and run somemore, he loves to play with other dogs but could do with a bit more recall work as he does get pre-occupied. He needs to be muzzled because sometimes he is a bit too rough but not aggresive in fact there isn’t a nasty bone in this boys body. On lead he walks well most of the time but can be a little lungy and barky when he sees other dogs approaching, again this is just over enthusiastic behaviour as he wants to go and say hello.

Murphy’s ideal home would be with someone who has previous young Lurcher experience preferably Collie cross and who is willing to invest some time into his continued training, socialisation and general obedience classes would be recommended and something that Murphy would really enjoy.

Murphy’s ideal home would be with a young companion that he can rough and tumble with and a largish garden for them to play in. He learnt quickly that he cannot rough and tumble in the house and that take it outside means literally to take it outside.

Murphy is an extremely loving boy who in the main just wants to please. With a little time invested this boy will be a very obedient responsive dog. Murphy is vaccinated, kennel cough vaccinated, de-flead, de-wormed, micro-chipped and neutered.

Greyhound Gap
Greyhound Gap

Greyhound Gap is a small independent charity set up to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers who find themselves in a ‘put to sleep’ situation in UK pounds. Funded almost entirely by donations, we rehome around 150 dogs each year. We can have around 40-50 dogs at any one time in our kennels based in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent and a further 30-40 in foster homes. Greyhound Gap operates on a national basis so our dogs can be homed throughout the UK subject to a suitable home visit being carried out.

If you are interested in adopting a dog from Greyhound Gap, we would ask that in the first instance you could take a few moments to complete our pre-adoption questionnaire if you have not already done so:
