Nadia – 1-2 year old female Hound Cross

Nadia is a 1-2 year old female Hound Cross. She is one of eleven dogs who were brought to the shelter together after their owner was struggling with addiction. Despite not being able to take care of himself or his home, the dogs were actually in quite good condition, but it was a highly stressful environment for them all to be living in and we’re hopeful that the future for all of them now looks a little more promising.

Nadia is a very sweet, intelligent, and trusting girl. She’s friendly towards everyone and listens intently when you talk to her or give her direction. She is keen to please and learns new things very quickly, so she would love a home with a family who wants to work a little on her training – she would enjoy the mental stimulation training offers. Nadia walks well on the lead and travels well in the var too, and is generally a confident girl but needs a little reassurance in new situations.

For example, at the vet, she was unnerved by a husky that was also there and jumped into the volunteer’s arms! That said, when introduced to other dogs on the neutral, relaxed ground (the vets is not the most relaxing environment!) she socializes extremely well with them, and having come from a home with ten other dogs we know she can share her space. Nadia bonds with new people really quickly and would prefer an active home outside of the city.

She would love the opportunity to explore the countryside and snuffle about in the grass to her heart’s content! As she’s a hound she will need to work on her recall and will have a prey drive for chasing birds and squirrels, it’s only natural. She would benefit from a home with a garden as she’s an energetic breed mix and loves being outside. She can be rehomed with children aged 5+, but she’s unfortunately not suitable for a home with cats as she likes to chase them.

It’s likely that Nadia has missed out on a lot of attention, training, and focus in recent months and we’re hoping that her new family can offer her the time and devotion she’s craving. She’s a very people-oriented dog and she will thrive in a proper family home.

Nadia is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
