Nala – 1-2 year old female Hound cross Labrador

Nala is a 1-2 year old female Hound cross Labrador. She was collected from the streets by the municipal dog wardens in Cyprus and taken to the local shelter. She remained in their care for the required two weeks, in which time we hope the family missing the dog come forward to collect them, but unfortunately as she was never claimed she is now looking for a new forever home.

Nala is a very loving girl and we think at some point she must have had a home. She gets very excited when her collar and lead get clipped on, as she knows something fun is going to follow! She walks well on the lead and interacts exceptionally well with new people and new dogs outside of the shelter, and she really enjoys the opportunities that she gets to socialise.

She shares her pen in the shelter with multiple other dogs of different shapes, sizes and ages, and she gets along well with them. She tends to stay out of the spotlight, but gets really excited if she’s approached by someone for a fuss. Nala could be part hound, part Labrador but it’s difficult to determine. Her lovely markings, larger size, and loyal, loving personality, regardless of her breed mix, make her an ideal family dog.

We know that Nala is going to be a truly devoted companion when she finally gets her forever home, as she loves people. Nala is definitely a more submissive dog and when meeting new, confident dogs outside of the shelter her tail will quickly go between her legs if she’s not feeling sure. She never reacts negatively, but she needs a bit of reassurance.

When off the lead in a secure dog park she will eventually join in the fun and engage in a game of chase, and she’s always well mannered with new people. She rarely jumps up and she takes treats gently. Nala’s ideal home would be outside of the city with a family who enjoy the outdoors, but also love a laid-back home lifestyle.

She would really like having access to a garden, and she can live with other dogs and children (aged 8+). We’re so proud of how she takes everything in her stride in the outside world after spending so many months in the shelter, so we know she’s going to really blossom in a home. Nala is currently in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
