Ned is an 8 month old male Lurcher being fostered in Gloucestershire in family home with 3 other dogs and two cats. Ned has recently come into our care another local dog. He was brought as a puppy and unfortunately the daughter’s work has changed and she has to work away now. The other family member felt it was best he found another home after Ned by accident crashed into her when playing ball and she ended up in A&E with a suspected broken nose.
He has not been with us long so this profile will change but so far can report. Ned is a very lovely dog, he is very friendly with not a bit of malice in him. He loves the other dogs but is very respectful to my older ones, the younger one tells him off when he has had enough and he does listen.
The cats, well the jury is out on that one, he is fascinated by them and a bit of a pest but nothing nasty. If anything a bit nervous when they tell him off, my placid big one is a bit wary of him which is unlike him so my feelings would be to say no with cats as if they ran, he would chase but he may settle down with them will keep the profile updated.
Ned is very lovely but a bit of an action man. I have not found his off switch yet but again early days and I feel I will be changing this. He has good recall currently and absolutely loves to run he has a lot of energy and not seen any signs of the lazy lurcher yet he loves being in the garden, playing with toys with which he will amuse himself.
I took him to agility training not to do it but to watch, he led them all on the warm up as you can see from the video. He has the makings of an agility dog, Cani Cross or flyball dog he could do any of them, brighter enough, active enough, motivated by toys. He adores other dogs and is very lovely with them he loves being chased, I think preference will be for him to go with other dogs.
He is another dog who needs a country home, space to run. He is extremely bright and does listen to you, he has the makings of being a great dog, lots of fun you will have with him but in the wrong home he will be a nightmare. He is lovely and friendly with everyone he meets, children, adults, dogs but because of him being a bit crazy at times is not going to suit a home with young children because of what happened with his previous owner.
He is not suitable for someone who has not homed a dog before and preference will be given to people who have owned lurcher’s and have other dogs. He is nowhere at the stage where he will be happy to lay on a sofa after a walk. He would love an active home with fun people, someone who is looking for a flyball or agility dog as he is meant to have Collie in him and you can see that, he is meant to be Whippet/Collie/Bedlington but not sure where the Bedlington is lol. He is bigger than a standard size Whippet.
Ned will be neutered, vaccinated, worm/fleaed and the Chip transferred. If you feel you could be the right match for him please email for our questionnaire.
