Since arriving into foster care, Nelson has quickly become a firm favourite thanks to his loving personality, excellent manners, and easy-going nature. He is the type of dog who simply enjoys being around people and being included in everyday life.
Nelson is a friendly and affectionate boy who loves spending time with his humans, whether that’s joining you on an adventure, relaxing at home, or enjoying a cuddle on the sofa.
He is equally happy playing with other dogs, exploring on walks, or settling down for one of his favourite activities — an afternoon nap.
He is very dog-friendly and has shown lovely social skills with the dogs he has met in foster care. Nelson enjoys canine company and could happily live with another friendly dog.
However, he would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the attention for himself.
Nelson has met children aged between 6 and 10 years old and has been gentle, calm, and happy to interact with them. He would be well suited to a family home with sensible, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs.
Although generally a confident young dog, Nelson can sometimes feel a little unsure in unfamiliar places.
When faced with something new, he may seek reassurance from his handler, but with encouragement and support his confidence continues to grow every day.
He is not particularly fond of heavy rain or loud noises, but copes well when guided by someone he trusts.
Nelson already has some lovely training foundations in place. He knows basic commands including sit and down, walks beautifully on the lead, and has excellent manners around the home.
He is non-destructive, settles well indoors, and can currently be left alone for around three hours without issue.
He is currently thriving on a Paleo Ridge raw diet and enjoys his meals immensely.
While Nelson is dog-friendly and small animal friendly, he is looking for a cat-free home. Careful introductions have been attempted with a cat during foster care, but his body language suggests he would be likely to chase, making a home with cats unsuitable.
