Pio is 4 or 5 years old, he’s a medium-large sized Ibizan Hound (Podenco) weighing 27kg. He has been living in the UK for the last 6 months and prior to that found starving on the streets in Spain. He is a very friendly dog and loves leaning next to you and having his head stroked. He is great with cats, has learnt to wait whilst they eat their food and sleeps next to them. He’s also good with my chickens and hasn’t shown any desire to chase them or the cats at all. He is fine with other dogs in the house, he seems to prefer smaller dogs. He isn’t particularly bothered about playing with them though so would be fine as an only dog.
He can bark at other dogs in the street (mainly only if they bark first or come up to him) but just have to be aware of this when you are out with him. He has lots of energy and loves playing in the garden and going for his walks. He can be quite strong on the lead so I’m using a halti on him when he’s out but he is fine with this. He also likes coming running with me so would be great for someone who wanted an exercise companion! He can’t currently be let off the lead and his recall needs A LOT of work, possibly with adopters being aware he might never be able to be taken off the lead.
He is good in the house: perfectly toilet trained, doesn’t bark and can be left for a few hours with no problems. He is better with a routine and can get a bit anxious and chew his blanket if he is unsure of things. He really is a lovely friendly dog who likes to be with people and is learning well. He comes to work with me and sleeps in the office and everyone who meets him says what a lovely boy he is. He can be quite energetic and strong if he hasn’t had a walk so probably best not with young children but older sensible children he’d be fine with. He is fostered in the Norfolk area.
