Pippa is a 5 month old Golden Retriever Cross puppy girl being fostered in Gloucestershire. This lovely girl has come into our care recently through no fault of her own – she is only 5 months old and already had two homes before she got signed over to Starfish.
Brief history – she was brought as a Goldendoodle by a family who had a change of working hours shortly after she arrived so Pippa spent a lot of time in a crate. They decided to rehome her and she was homed with a local family who only had her two weeks and realised that a large young family and a puppy did not mix.
Pippa did not do anything wrong – the lady just did not realise the how hard it would be with a young dog and 4 young children – she could have sold her but wanted to do the responsible thing and hand her into the rescue. This means the next home we find for this dog will be her forever home, she cannot be let down again.
Pippa is now living in a family home with 3 other dogs and two cats, the foster home runs a dog walking business and Pippa has mixed with all sorts of different dogs, sizes, ages etc and cannot fault her. For a 5 month puppy she is amazing and going to appeal to a lot of homes. She travels well, good off the lead, lovely with our cats, house trained, sleeps through the night in her crate.
There is nothing negative to say and if I did not have such a young dog myself I would keep her as she is so lovely. Pippa adores other dogs and takes the lead from them, she has probably missed out the last few months mixing with other dogs. We also have two older dogs and apart from giving them a kiss, she does not bother them.
She is meant to be mixed with a Poodle but I can only see the Golden Retriever in her. She would love a country home with other dogs, older children teenagers would be great as then the family will have more time for Pippa and she would love to be part of family, equally an active couple with another dog would be perfect too, she has been around live stock and shown no interest.
A very bright lovely young lady, she needs people who will have the time for her, she needs to be taken to dog training etc as all young dogs do – she is an amazing dog with an amazing temperament and someone is going to be extremely bless to own her. So please only apply if you can offer her what we think will suit her.
