Poppy is a 2 year old female Jack Russell Terrier being fostered in Gloucestershire in a family home with teenagers, 3 dogs and two cats. This lovely little girl was a local dog to us that came into our care as her owners no longer had the time for her due to work commitments she had been with her previous owners since a small puppy. Poppy has been a joy to foster and no trouble. For a young terrier Poppy is a very quiet unassuming little lass, she is most happiest curled up on the sofa next to you, she enjoys her walks but only if its not raining or cold although one of our Starfish families has donated a lovely red little coat for Poppy which she loves wearing and keeps her warm. She has a good recall but to be honest never really wanders that far not your typical terrier in all the bushes etc.
She also travels well in the car. She gets on with our family dogs but is not particularly interested in them although she has a few times played with the younger one. She is also fine with our two cats again not taking much interest in them. I think if anything she is not the most confident and was quite wary about the cats to begin with and also the other dogs but she is used to them all now but I think would perfectly happy living as an only dog or if there was another dog an older gentle one as she could easily get bullied. Poppy is a gentle very sweet natured dog if she was a person she would be the sort that did not want to be any trouble to anyone we do not know we have her except if anyone knocks at the door and then she does bark and is partial to the odd stealing of food.
If Poppy could talk she would like a quiet home, no little kids, she loves our children but they are 18 and 21 as she quite happy to lay on their laps while they are watching TV or on their lap tops, she also enjoys laying on my husband – she does not have any nastiest in her just a very sweet natured lovely girl who really deserves to be someone’s Princess – a couple of easy walks a day would suit her not sure she would enjoy going out for miles. She is fine being left but that was one of the reason’s she was given up so want the opposite for her with someone around – I think an early retired couple or person not too old as remember she is only 2 years old and could live another 15 years, a sensitive little dog she needs someone to show her about love and feel a bit more confident about herself – there is another Poppy lurking as she often gets the balls out or toys but if our young one goes over to play she will drop them, she enjoys chasing a ball.
I think Poppy is unusual for a young terrier and deserves a very special home for a sweet special little girl. Poppy has recently been spayed and she will be having her stitches out this week and will start her vaccinations too.
