Rex – 6 year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross

Sensitive Rex is a six year old male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross who arrived at Mayhew because he wasn’t getting on with the other dog in the home. He’s a very active and playful dog who can get overstimulated easily and can also be unsure in new situations and around strangers. He is super intelligent, loves to learn and wants to please, however he’s easily distracted outside and he still needs to learn a reliable recall.

He’ll need a strong and active, yet calm and confident owner who is experienced with dogs, ideally bull breeds, who knows not to hype him up and has the ability to read his body language. Someone who has the time to direct his focus to doing various commands, mentally stimulating him and rewarding calm and sociable behaviour.

Rex is toilet trained and copes wwell with being left home alone for a few hours. He’s looking for a home in a rural or semi rural area. He needs an experienced all adult home, without visiting children and no other pets. His new owner will need to be prepared to visit him a few times before taking him home. Due to his high prey drive with cats and wildlife he’ll need a secure, enclosed garden with at least six-foot fencing.

Rex has great potential in the right hands, with someone who is looking to take on a project and is willing to put the work in, including working with a trainer. They’ll certainly reap the rewards whilst having have great fun with his training, ending up with a super companion for many years to come.

Rex has been microchipped, vaccinated, is up to date with flea & worm treatment and will be neutered before he’s rehomed. He has also been health checked and behaviourally assessed.
