Rita – 2 year old female Cross-Breed

Rita is a 2.5-year-old mix breed rescue, born around 15th May 2021, currently seeking a new home in Warwick, UK. Originally discovered along with her sisters in a field in Vukovar, Croatia, in 2021, Rita was rehomed to a caring lady in the UK.

Unfortunately, due to significant life changes, her adopter is heartbroken to part with her, despite the strong bond they share.

Described as an amazing and intelligent girl, Rita exudes energy and enthusiasm. She enjoys the company of people and readily engages with other dogs for play when given the chance. With a cheeky personality, she is particularly people-focused.

In a previous living arrangement, she coexisted with an elderly cat, attempting playful interaction, though the cat never reciprocated. Rita lacks a strong prey instinct towards cats but may benefit from a dog-savvy cat companion to guide her behaviour.

While Rita’s interaction with small children remains uncertain, she will only be placed in homes with children over 10 who are confident around dogs. Her vaccinations are up to date as of 3rd August 2023.

Having spent two wonderful years with her current owner, Rita has learned a variety of tricks, showcasing her intelligence. She can sit, stay, give a paw, lie down (even from a distance), roll over, play dead (“Bang”), go between your legs (“Middle”), leave it, heel (“With me”), go to her bed (crate), and respond to recall on a whistle (with a 100% success rate).

Despite her excitable nature and tendency to pull on a lead during walks, Rita is best suited to a pull harness. Her love for food, treats, and chews makes her highly trainable and adaptable to various commands. Previously on a raw diet, she now enjoys Platinum dog food.

Rita possesses a typical canine prey drive, expressing enthusiasm for chasing balls, squirrels, or rabbits. Beyond her energetic side, she appreciates being scratched and stroked, craving attention.

Rita is well-behaved indoors, maintaining cleanliness and sleeping soundly. While she may experience travel sickness in cars, there are tablets available to alleviate this issue.

For potential adopters, a home check and an adoption fee of £395 will apply. Rita’s playful disposition, intelligence, and love for attention make her an ideal companion for the right family willing to provide her with a loving forever home.
