Roxy is a 10 year old female Lakeland Terrier Cross. She originally arrived in our care in September 2021 after her owner was moving into accomodation that would not allow pets. In December 2021 she was adopted but unfortunately this has not worked out and so Roxy is seeking another home. She will be staying with her current owner whilst we match her to a new family and therefore she is not at the rescue.
She is a wonderful girl, despite her age she is very playful and full of character! She really enjoys her walks and playing with toys. She does not like other animals and can be reactive to other dogs on walks.
Extra care will need to be taken around small animals as she does have a strong prey drive. When she first arrived she was suffering from an untreated skin allergy which had caused significant fur loss around her neck, chest and front legs.
With treatment we soon began to see a great improvement with this and the fur loss started to return. This is now being managed with medicated baths once a month and a hypoallergenic diet. It is important that this is monitored regularly with your own vet. Roxy has had a mammary lump removed with no further issue. Roxy has started to develop cataracts which may progress as she ages and although her eyesite appears well at the moment she may struggle in low light.
We are looking for a quiet home for Roxy, ideally with an active retired person/s and where any children are aged 16+. She will need to be the only pet in the home and would benefit from an experienced owner who is able to manage her reactive behaviour on walks. She has already been through a lot of upheavel since she first arrived here and we are desperate to see her settled in a loving and secure home.
