Ruby is a lovely black female greyhound with little white toes, a white chest and beautiful eyes who had a dull coat but now has a lovely sheen. She is approximately 26″ to the shoulder and is 3 years of age. Ruby was given away as her trainer had no interest in her or use for her so sadly just another unwanted dog. Please don’t overlook our lovely black boys and girls as they are so very beautiful when they have reached peak condition with a posh new collar and are ALWAYS the last to be adopted. Ruby is a real sweetheart who just needs a loving family to give her the love she craves and help to build her confidence. Ruby is a very easy girl apart from she does have a degree of prey drive which makes it necessary to walk her in a harness and if you are in an area with a high number of very small dogs off lead possibly a muzzle but please don’t let this put you off as she is easy as pie in all other areas!
Ruby is a very easy little girl to have around and is quiet and very well behaved. She is now clean in the home but does like to go out for her morning toilet as soon as she wakes up. She also loves her bed a lot! Ruby is very good with medium sized and larger quiet dogs but doesn’t really understand what small dogs are and so finds them quite exciting. A harness is recommended and we can advise her new family on how best to deal with this. Unfortunately Ruby doesn’t like cats or small furries.
Ruby loves her walks and is a very good girl both on the lead and in the car although she can pull towards small dogs or cats (please see above). She will need a minimum of two 30 minute walks a day and a safe garden play to in. Ruby would also love a change to stretch her legs off lead in an enclosed area away from livestock and public roads a couple of times a week. In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
We feel Ruby would settle happily into most family environments and would prefer to live or with another calm canine companion. Ruby will also need people who are around most of the time to show her the ropes and help with her confidence (not to mention giving lots of cuddles) Please be aware though that we do not home dogs to families with children under 8 years of age. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to meet and collect her.
Ruby is currently in a foster home in Norfolk. Ruby is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and wormed and a home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
