Sparky is a 2-3 year old male Lurcher. Well hello folks!! I hope you are ready for the whirlwind that I am. I am a black and white Lurcher (big boy!) and am approximately 2.5 years old. I came to Islay Dog Rescue from Homeless Hounds in Lancashire where I had been unclaimed in the dog pound.
Have I told you yet that I love people but HATE cats! People are great, I love spending time with them, going for long walks and playing but see those cats!! Oh not just cats by the way – all small furries, and sheep and anything else that could run!
When the staff come to get me out the kennel I get very excited and jump up but if they turn their back and ignore me then I settle down quickly. I love going for a walk – there is always the possibility that I can see a CAT! Have I told you yet that I can’t live with cats or other small furries?? Apparently I have something very posh called “a high prey drive”.
Anyway, more about me!! I am around 2.5 years old and was rehomed by Islay Dog Rescue but I came back to there rescue after a month. My home had been fabulous and there was a very special lady there who needed my attention and dedication. At first it was ok but the more I grew to love her the less I liked the carers who came to help her. Eventually it was decided I should go back to the rescue and hopefully find another home.
Now, my ideal home would be – NO CATS (did I tell you I don’t like cats?), no small furries (don’t like them either!), kids would be fine but because I’m a big boy and very bouncy I think it’s best the kids are 10 years and over. I’d like lots of walks and somebody who will help me learn to walk properly on a halti as I do pull hard when I’m on a harness. I’m happy travelling in the car so days out would be nice too.
