Spike is a 7 years old, male German Shepherd who came to The Mayhew because his owners became homeless. He is a very intelligent dog who is well-behaved, toilet trained and can be left alone for a few hours without any problems.

Spike is good with other dogs. He is nervous around strangers and may growl on first meetings. It doesn’t take him long to get to know and trust you and he quickly forms very strong bonds. Care will need to be taken that he doesn’t become protective of his new owners.

Spike loves to interact with people he knows and is extremely affectionate. He is looking for a new home with experienced owners who have owned German Shepherds before. He will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day. In return he will be a wonderful and loyal companion. His new guardians will be taking on a eight year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
